Meet the Team

Mrs Laura Simpson

Assistant Head, Head of Early Years, Preschool Teacher

Hi, My name is Laura Simpson. I am the Assistant Head and Head of Early Years here at Alverton School and Woodland Nursery. I am also the preschool teacher.

I have been a teacher for 20 years and am passionate about providing and leading an exciting and enriching early years experience for children as they start their educational journey in life. It is a pleasure to lead a team of enthusiastic practitioners who strive to provide the best setting for your children to flourish in.

I have three children of my own and we enjoy spending time looking for sea glass, walking our dog along the coastal paths and spending time together as a family.

Kayla Statham

Nursery Lead / Senior Practitioner

Hi My name is Kayla and I am the Nursery Lead / Senior Practitioner here at Woodlands. I have a Level 3 in Childcare and a vast amount of experience managing within the childcare sector. I love making a difference to the children and my favourite activity is Messy play!! Children love to get messy and we are able to create unique masterpieces everyday.

I am the Healthy Movers Champion here at Woodlands! We use this everyday here at the setting as a way of bringing movement and physical exercise into their day. Healthy Movers also incorporates stories making them engaging and exciting, bringing stories to life through rhythm and dance.

The nursery really is my passion and i love being a piece of this brilliant jigsaw we are creating.

Becca Stirling

Room Lead (Little Foxes) and Nursery SENDCo

Hi my name is Becca and I am the room lead for Little Foxes room. The Little Foxes make up our toddler room and range from 2-3 years of age. I have a level 3 in Childcare and I love being part of the Woodland family. I am learning lots whilst also bringing fresh new ideas to my team. I love supporting the toddlers through their day at the setting and helping them to achieve their goals. I am able to build brilliant bonds with my children by really getting to know each child as an individual and working on their interests to get the best possible outcome.

In my spare time I like to spend time with my friends and family!

Tilly Hart

Nursery Practitioner (Little Foxes)

I'm Tilly and work in the Little Foxes room! I enjoy getting out and about on the field with the toddlers and getting creative and messy doing arts and crafts! In my personal time I spend as much time with my little girl as I can! We love spending time at the park and on the beach. We also love baking together and singing nursery rhymes!

Tansy Linklater-Johnson

Nursery Practitioner (maternity leave)

Hi, my name is Tansy, and I am a nursery practitioner here in our Little Foxes Room.
I love music, crocheting and being outdoors, being able explore the outdoor areas with the children whatever the weather, is great fun. Being able to run freely, look for insects, using the climbing frame and going for hunts. I enjoy making crafty pieces with the children using expressive arts and design and getting creative when carrying out baking activities.

Natasha Brown

Deputy Nursery Lead and Little Owls Room Lead

Hello, my name is Tash and I am a room lead in Little Owls (pre school) room. I have been at Woodlands Nursery for over 9 years. I love supporting the children in their learning, leading the room, sharing stories and getting to know our children and their family. I love being outside and seeing children love to explore the woodland area. I have a child who I love spending time with as well as going on family walks.

Mrs Viv Roberts

Nursery Room Lead (Little Owls)

Hello my name is Viv and I've worked at the school for over twenty years, in the nursery for twelve. I love seeing the children grow in confidence as they settle into the nursery. It's great when you walk through the school and the children still remember you. We are so lucky to have our woods and I really enjoy being outside. Our Friday fires are the best !!! My partner and I have six wonderful grandchildren between us so the holidays are the time to see as much of them as we can. I also love watching the pirates play rugby at the weekends. I go to as many of the home games as I can (usually wearing lots of layers!!).

Libby Curnow

Nursery Practitioner (maternity leave)

Hi, My name is Libby and I have been at Woodland Nursery for over 2 years. I am very creative and enjoy getting stuck in with messy play, play dough, cutting and sticking.I strive to support children no matter what their needs are and I always look for SEN training opportunities to support our children with new initiatives and visual aids. In my own time, I enjoy walks and spending time with my family.

Nikki Knight

Nursery Cook

Hi My name is Nikki and i am the Nursery Cook here at Woodlands. I have a wealth of experience and knowledge in catering. From having trained Catering Level 3, I have been provided with the appropriate knowledge to provide interesting, whilst healthy menus that ensure children at Woodland Nursery receive a well balanced diet.

Beth Blewett

Nursery Practitioner (maternity leave)

Hi, my name is Beth and I enjoy spending time alongside our children, getting to know their interests and helping them develop in their learning. I love to go out into our woodland area and getting muddy, looking under logs and making dens. I also enjoy reading stories and seeing children excited about what will happen next as we read books together. In my own time, I attend hip hop dance classes and help out at pantomime production team.
